Today's Topic:
Tell us about your dream vacation!
Where would you go? Have you been there before? Who would go with you? What about it draws you in?
This one is tough. There are so many places I'd like to go.
One choice would be Bora Bora because this just looks amazing.
If I had a couple of months and lots of money to spare, I would love to travel to different places in Europe. I always wanted make a trip to Germany and Italy - Germany because that is my heritage and Rome, Italy because I was raised Catholic - and for my college graduation present, my sweet mom made this dream come true. She booked a trip for us - one week in Munich, Germany and one week in Rome, Italy. History was always my favorite subject and there is just so much of it in Munich and Rome. I really wanted to see a concentration camp and I remember how odd my mom thought this was. We visited Dachau and it was such a sobering experience. I cannot even begin to imagine what life would be like there and I'm so glad I don't have to, either. It makes me so sad, but I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it. We must never forget that these atrocities occurred.
Some other highlights were visiting the quaint village of Oberammergau and a couple of castles.
So have you gotten the impression that I would love to go back to these cities? I would also love to visit Ireland, France, Belgium, and London.

i was raised catholic in my "impressionable years" as well and I don't understand it....this seems to be the consensus of most of my friends in the same boat. I've since found my own way of life that works for me.
ReplyDeletewhat an amazing experience, I have never been off the east coast (except for an unenjoyable honeymoon in mexico...) so I am super jealous of your trip!!! I aspire to see more of the world!!
I found my own way too. Some of the people that I have come across who have claimed to be so involved with the the church are also some of the biggest hypocrites I've ever met. After going to Catholic school, I know for sure I would never send my own child there. But I do find the religion fascinating... all of the rituals, history, etc.
