An Award And MORE SNOW

I'll be honest, I haven't really blogged much lately. I guess I just haven't had a whole lot to say. I'm still disappointed in myself with the weight loss for the last week. I hate feeling this way and decided it's time to stop sabotaging my efforts by getting off track on the weekends. What is wrong with me and why do I seem to have no willpower whatsoever when it comes to the weekends?

But enough about that. Jamie at Done Being the Fat Chick gave me an award and it definitely made my day. She has already lost more than 20 lbs and is well on her way of achieving her goal by her 25th birthday. Keep up the good work, girl. She is so determined and everyone working on losing weight should head over to her blog and take a look.

The Sunshine Award. I'm supposed to pass this on to 12 bloggers who add sunshine to my day by reading their blogs.

Monica at Confessions of a + Sized Girl - This girl has determination that is inspiring. She is also so darn sweet.

Dree at The Making of Dree - She has lost a ton of weight with WW and motivates me to keep on keepin' on!

Tara at I Can't Help It, I'm Just Me - I love how honest she is with herself and how open she on her blog. She also is a fellow Ohioan who shares my pain with ALL OF THIS SNOW SHOVELING!

Rachel at I Want To LOSE IT. (for real) - Love seeing her hard work with following the WW plan.

Tania at The Road Back To Being Me - I have a lot in common with her and I like watching her progress.

Amber Lane at A Blonde Bride And Her Boo - This is one of the first blogs I started reading and made me want to start my own blog. She's an amazing, hard working woman.

Lyndsey at All Things Fluffy Fashionable and Famous - love her WW Wednedays. She's a picky eater like me so I like that she puts her recipes on her blog. Also love seeing pictures of her brand new sweet baby girl.

Melissa at Melissa's Adventures in Living Life - This girl has achieved WW Lifetime status. I love reading her tips for eating healthy and looking at her recipes, too.

Mary at Curvy Is The New Black. Right? - I just started following her blog and she reminds me so much of myself!

Amber at Musings Of Amber Murphy - She just cracks me up.

Mojito Maven at Make Mine a Mojito - She is such a talented writer and her blog is a fun read.

Brown Girl at Brown Girl Blogs - She is beautiful and makes me laugh with her own sarcasm and sass!

Other than that, not much new to report around here. Looks like, once again, we will be spending the weekend shoveling. I will be so happy once winter is finally over!!

Have a fabulous weekend.

Have A Question?

Go ahead, as me here

Apparently, this is the new thing.

Update

Yesterday our power went out at work. After they found out it would take at least four hours to fix, they sent us home at lunch. And yes, it's funny that I work for a power generation company and we had no power.
It was kind of nice to be home after only working a half day, but today is busy because of it!

Over the weekend, I've come to the conclusion that I must be getting old. We met some of M's friends at a bar downtown (that all the college kids frequent) to watch the UFC fights (love UFC!) in the back room. By the time we left, we had to fight to get through the massive crowd of people to get out the door. I still have friends who go to these types of bars on the weekends and back when I was in college, I did, too. Now, I have absolutely no desire to deal with the big crowd of obnoxious people. I also think it was a little ridiculous that they had three... not one, not two... but THREE police officers by the door in case there were any problems.

Eating was not so great this weekend. It started out well, but it's funny how one bad choice can lead to more. I made the decision not to weigh in this week. I am going to work really hard this week and hopefully the damage won't be too bad. I need to start planning ahead more AND I have to be sure to drink enough water on the weekends.

I'm still fighting off being sick. I have consumed a ridiculous amount of cough drops. I don't think I am actually sick, but thanks to Ohio weather, I'm having crazy sinus issues. Yuck.

Time to get back to work... I will be catching up on your blogs during lunch!

Random

  • I cannot seem to wake up today. I am so tired for some reason and the day is just dragging. It doesn't help that I'm jealous because M took the day off. Oh well, my weekend starts at 4:00 p.m. today, less than 2 hours. Yay for long weekends!!

  • Our new stove is being delivered tomorrow. Is that weird that I am excited?? Our old one died last month and we bought a new one last weekend. I love my crockpot and all, but I'm getting sick of not having an oven to cook.

  • Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, meaning the begininning of Lent. I gave up chocolate. This will be very difficult. Not that I've been eating a ton of chocolate lately, although I do sneak some here and there... but this also means I can't have hot chocolate, Fiber One chocolate & oats bars, etc. It will be tough, but I think I can do it.

  • My brother and his girlfriend got engaged on Valentine's Day. I'm not very close with her because of a few things that have happened in the past, but they have been together for 4 years and I guess I figured they would end up together. If my brother is happy, then I am happy for him. But, imagine my surprise when I received an email from his girfriend... uh, fiance... asking me to be her maid of honor (although most likely, I will be a matron by then... but I disgress). I choked on my coffee. I would not have guessed in a million years she would ask me to be her maid of honor. She said she knows it's a little bit weird, but she has no sisters and she's not so close with most of her girlfriends anymore because they are trouble makers. I've been thinking about it and I think I will do it - more so for my brother.

  • I really hope that I am not getting sick again. My sinuses are driving me crazy and I have a sore throat. It's this stupid weather.

Changes

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day! For M and I it was very low key, which was fine with me. I made a spaghetti dinner for M on Saturday night and french toast Sunday morning before I headed to my sister-in-law's for some girl time with her and my nieces.

Official weigh in day is tomorrow, but as of this morning I weighed in at 189.4. I still have a long way to go, but it feels great to be out of the 190's!

Something I have noticed now that I am seeing changes... it is so much easier for me to make the right choices. For example, someone brought in donuts today (and last Friday, too) and I had no problem saying no when they were offered to me. I also was fine with turning down a high calorie Italian place for lunch last week (and I looooove pasta!!). I still participate in weekly lunches at our favorite Mexican place with my favorite co-workers once a week, but on those days I watch my portion sizes and drink plenty of extra water. These things would normally be hard for me to do, but not so much anymore. And it feels wonderful. I don't deprive myself of anything... I even had a few pieces of chocolate yesterday. But everything in moderation.

In other news I decided on the LG enV for my new phone. I decided against the touch screen. I don't know, I guess I am just old school when it comes to phones. I don't like touch screens, I don't use them to browse the internet, and I could care less about the options it has for music. Heck, I hardly even talk on the phone - I avoid it as much as I can, so basically I mostly use my phone for texting. And taking pictures of my nieces. The phones were buy one get one free, so we got one for M, too. Now HE can text too!

Work is calling me... I will be catching up on your blogs, later.

Is It Friday Yet?

Is it just me or does this week seem like it's dragging? I blame it on all the snow. M skipped his workout yesterday to go home after work and shovel the driveway so my car could actually get up it. Nice of him, but it still took me several attempts. I should have taken pictures, our driveway is ridiculous.

But after all of that frustration yesterday evening, my Valentine's Day present arrived in the mail. M just decided to give it to me then. I got some of these...
I love them! I am a little picky when it comes to my earrings. I have had as many as 3 holes in each ear and I've always had problem with them getting infected. It's awful. One time the third hole in my ear was so bad that when I tried to get the earring out (because my ear was so swollen) I got the earring stuck inside of my ear. Yep. That was not a fun ER visit. These days, I stick to just one hole and since they were pierced when I was 2, I don't have many problems with them, just have to stick to real gold. I love the earrings M got me for my Valentine's Day gift because they're the perfect size to wear every day.

I think this weekend is going to be perfect for staying in the house - ALL weekend. Except maybe for a short visit to see my nieces. I love any excuse to spoil them so I already have their Valentine's Day treats ready to go!

Does anyone have anything exciting planned for Valentine's Day?

Here Comes The Snow

It's days like these I do not like having an office facing the window. Ugh. I am hoping this storm isn't as bad as they're saying it will be, but somehow, I have a feeling I won't be on time for work tomorrow. I'm already assuming the worst and I'm thinking I will have to shovel before I can even get out of the driveway. Yuck.

So, 2.4 lbs down. I'm not happy about it. If you recall, as of Sunday morning, I was 3 lbs down. What happened? A few margaritas for the super bowl... that's what. Sometimes, my will power kind of sucks, obviously.

That's all I have.

Hodge Podge

  • First let me just say that I HATE SNOW!! We got a bunch of it here in Ohio over the weekend... and more is on the way. Even after all of the shoveling, my car barely makes it up the driveway. I would be oh so happy if I never ever saw snow again!! Saturday Morning was terrible, but since M has 4 wheel drive, we decided to go grocery shopping anyway. It's just snow, I don't understand why people must drive like idiots. Isn't it common sense that if you drive 72 mph weaving in and out of traffic in a Rent A Center van on a snow covered highway that hasn't been completely cleared yet, you will probably end up in an accident (yes, we saw said van crash into another car before hitting the wall on Route 8... stupid). Also, there is no need to drag along at 10 mph the. whole. way. It's not THAT bad.

  • Let's see... weight loss... M changed the battery in the scale since it was dying. So even though weigh in isn't until Tuesday, I decided to weigh myself yesterday morning. I was down 3 lbs. This is great considering I lost nothing last week.

  • We checked out phones at Verizon. I think I have it narrowed down to the LG Dare, or the LG enV. Still thinking about this. I haven't had a new phone in forever.

  • Since my Colts blew it last night, I currently owe M $5. This annoys me. Not that owe M $5, but the Colts should have won that game!

  • Since I have moved in with M, I watch entirely too much TV. With the exception of showering, going to JCPenny and Target, I watched TV ALL DAY yesterday. When I was still living by myself, I didn't even have cable. And I was ok with that. Now, I'm pretty sure I have an unhealthy obsession with shows on A&E such as, Hoarders and I Survived. I also am just a little embarrassed to admit that I hate missing new episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. This needs to stop.

Have a fantastic week, kids. I'm off to catch up on your blogs.

Phones

My cell phone contract with AT&T is up next month. I will be switching to Verizon, as M and most people I talk to have Verizon. I currently have this old school phone...
Yeah, it's old and pretty beat up. So I've been thinking of a new phone I may want. Maybe something like this...

Now, let me point out that talking on the phone is one of my least favorite things to do. Actually, I mainly need a phone to text since I do that way more often. I don't think I want to go with a Blackberry or anything of that sort.

Suggestions?

Here It Is

Here is the dress... I know, the picture isn't that great. You can also check it out here.

It's simple, but isn't it fabulous?

Yes, I am ordering it online. Some people told me that was not a good idea. I'm not ordering for a little while yet. I'm going to check out bridal stores with my sister in law and try on similar dresses to the one above to make sure I will like the way it looks. Seriously, the dress is perfect and I might as well order it online for $99.99, right?

For Tania, check out this site, and this one and that one, too if you are interested in doing the same thing. I also really liked this dress, but it came in second place.

Onto other things.

The weigh in? Well, it was exactly the same as last week. I lost nothing. After some recent sodium bombs, I can't say I was really surprised. Not to mention, I haven't been drinking nearly enough water. Also, I am going to lower my calorie intake on the days that I am not working out. Hopefully next week I will see better results.

Watches and Wedding Dresses

It was a somewhat busy weekend, but we got a lot accomplished. We also did some much needed grocery shopping... which ended up costing way too much, but at least there is fruit in the house again!

I also bought M's Valentine's Day/Birthday present.

ESQ (by Movado) Fusion. I love it. Of course I didn't even wait and M is currently sporting this on his wrist. It was a little on the pricey side, hence the reason it is a Valentine's Day/Birthday (his in March) gift. M doesn't ask for much and is always spoiling me. He has been wanting this watch for a while now. We saw this at the same place M purchased my engagement ring and every time we are in the mall, he has to stop by and take a look. Since the guy was willing to give me a little bit of a break because of M's recent ring purchase, I thought it was totally worth it.

In other news, my eating has been pretty much on track. We even went to Olive Garden and even though I totally planned ahead for all of my calories during the day (and worked out), after tracking my meals from the weekend online, my sodium levels were a little bit out of control. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn't totally screw up tomorrow's weigh in.

Let's see...

I found a wedding dress!! And the best part?? It was $99 - yep, only $99!! It's not ordered yet because I totally plan on losing weight before September, but it is definitely the dress I want. Simple... I'm all about simple. I will try to post it soon... when I try to save the picture, it cuts part of it off. If I can figure out how to fix it, I will get the picture posted this week.

Have a wonderful week!
